The non-profit organisation Košice 2013, responsible for the implementation of the European Capital of Culture project, is preparing a series of international events to highlight the examples of European cities which used culture and creativity as a basis for their development.
The aim is to promote creative industry in the Eastern part of Central Europe by:
- introducing examples of projects and strategies in creative industries being developed throughout Europe, their models and their impact on cities and regions
- pointing out the problems of enforcing intellectual property rights
- introducing people whose experience and creativity has contributed to the development of business and industry in their regions

The Stuttgart-based business initiative Baden-Württemberg Connected e.V. (bwcon) was announced "Best German Innovation Network" in 2008. The €15,000 prize was awarded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) in Berlin to recognize the network’s innovative service and added value for its members. Promoting Baden-Württemberg as a location for innovation and high-tech bwcon is one of the most successful technology networks in Europe, with over 420 companies and research institutions among its members.
